Two Parent Project calls for proposal to fund scientific research on Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy

Support for scientific research for Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy is a fundamental goal for Parent Project, who has been following this goal for over 20 years, acting at different levels and promoting a swift and flowing path to research on this pathology.

Consistent with our beliefs, we support studies that fall into all areas of scientific research: from basic and clinical research, focused on the acquisition of new knowledge concerning the biological and clinical bases of the pathology, to the applied one, aimed at the development of therapeutic strategies for DMD/BMD. Finally, among the funded projects, studies focused on the development of new diagnostic methods and innovative aids for DMD/BMD are also considered.

Over the last ten years Parent Project onlus allocated more than 3 million euros on scientific research.

Two new types of call for proposals for research funding are published below:

  • A standard call (Grant Application PPO), with an annual deadline, for research projects with a two years maximum duration and with a maximum amount of € 80,000. The first evaluation of the projects, based on the presented subject and on its innovation, will be carried out by an internal commission, comprising the Parent Project onlus Board members and the the Scientific Office staff. The selected projects will then be evaluated, with the peer review system, by an external commission composed of three experts in the area of expertise.

  • A second type of easy-terms loan, so-called fast track (Fast Track Application PPO), without an annual deadline, to support smaller projects (maximum amount of € 20,000). In this case, there will be a single evaluation based on the feasibility of the project topic, made by the members of the Parent Project onlus Board and the the Scientific Office staff.

The two calls (Grant Application and Fast Track Aplication) are open to reserchers/clinicians from Italy and abroad
